10 Ways To Refresh Your Quotidian This Spring

With springs arrival we are often inspired to shake up our daily routine after having spent the winter months inside, beneath the blankets. Spring is the season of rebirth and renewal, so it is the perfect time to reset your goals, clarify your intentions for the remaining year ahead, and redefine your health.

Here are 10 ways to reboot your everyday this spring to be happier and healthier:

1. USE YOUR WEEKENDS TO ESCAPE THE CITY
Now that the weather is warming and going outside is enjoyable, go and explore all that you’ve been wanting to do this past winter. Whether it is a trip to the beach, or upstate to see the beginnings of the branches blossom, taking a day or two to escape the constant rush of the city will give your mind and body the relax and refresh it needs.

2. TAKE YOUR WORKOUT OUTSIDE
You’ve been indoors for too long, take a long run through your local park and defrost. The fresh air will clear your mind and the sun will warm your soul.

3. SWAP YOUR METRO CARD FOR A CITIBIKE CARD
It’s time to buy or renew your Citibike key. With bike stations all across New York City and New Jersey you really have no excuse to go underground. The ride to work will wake you up for a productive day in the office, while the ride home will reawaken you for an enjoyable spring evening.

4. ELIMINATE A BAD HABIT
Has there been a habit you’ve been trying to kick for some time? Spring is the perfect time to try. There always seems to be a ‘change’ mentality within the spring air, whether its trying to shed a few pounds, or finally put the cigarette out for good, jump in and be inspired by those around you trying to do the same.

5. START YOUR DAY WITH THE SUNRISE
It can be hard getting out of bed early in the winter, but alas, our mornings are warmer and even more beautiful now that Spring is here. Set your alarm earlier so you can watch the sunrise- not only will you get to hear the birds chirping, you’ll feel clearer and calmer for the rest of your day. See more about early rising here.

6. TAKE YOUR HAPPY-HOUR OUTDOORS
As well as enjoying the sunrise, you can also enjoy the late sunset (thank you Daylight Savings) Get the crew and hit a rooftop bar, or an outdoor bar in one of our amazing parks. Mixing up your Friday afternoon routine will inspire you to shake up your whole weekend routine.

7. ADD A/ OR ANOTHER MEDITATION TO YOUR ROUTINE
There is not better time than the present to start a mediation routine. Meditation helps you in setting your intentions for the day, while also helping your achieve your long-term goals. You can read more about the benefits of mediation here. If you already have a meditation practice, why don’t you treat yourself and add an extra session to your schedule or allow yourself a longer session. This increased mindfulness will really boost your wellness this spring.

8. GAIN A NEW PERSPECTIVE
It is said that the way we view the world becomes a habit. If you’ve been feeling pessimistic, angry, stressed, ungrateful, and so on, take some time alone and think deeply about how you want to feel and how you want others to view you. You need to unplug and go somewhere peaceful to regain a new perspective. This newfound perspective could simply just to be more patient with people, or to be more grateful for all that you have, instead of focusing on everything you don’t have. You’ll find that once gained, this new perspective will have a positive affect on your personal and work lives.

9. SWITCH DESKS WITH A CO-WORKER
Switching desk with a co-worker is a super simple way to refresh your routine. Creating a new environment around you on a regular basis helps you to stay focused on your work and keeps your mood elevated. While it may seem silly, this new view from your desk will boost your productivity and your workplace wellness.

10. REFRESH YOUR HOME
It is called a spring clean for a reason. It’s time to move around the furniture, clean in those hard to reach places and crack open your windows! Your clean and refreshed environment will have a direct affect on your happiness and health.
